what got ahold of Zacchaeus
what would make such a powerful and "mighty" man in his culture, stoop to doing something so undignified? was Zacchaeus infected with something? was his curiosity overwhelming to him? was the infection he had something on his heart that couldn't be contained?
like a viral video that gets played over and over, before too long our whole "friend-base" gets a forward from us to check out something we found to be funny, cute, amazing or something else. the conviction part though is we have a Zacchaeus strategy for evangelism. we are hoping that people will hear the message of Christ, be intrigued, and make a decision to go and seek Him out. while seeking Him we have the hope that Jesus just might come in contact with that person and change everything about them. we might be praying for them so their "hearts will be tender" but the reality is we aren't willing to be the one to share the good news with them...why is that? what got ahold of Zacchaeus that made him drop everything to go see this Jesus? is that same infection in us? is that same desire to come in contact with Christ there for us too? why would we forward a funny video where some dad gets whacked in the crotch with a wiffle ball bat to our friends, but choose to remain silent with something that could change every aspect of their lives??? just wonder what happened after Zacchaeus settled up and made amends? why don't we hear from him any more? maybe we shouldn't need more info...
