The Best Compliment For A Community
If you know any of the history of the Philippian church you know that Paul has a deep relationship with the people there. He helped start the church in the major cities of Colossae, Ephesus, Galatia, and Philippi. (And I imagine Paul had strong ties to all of them.)
But if you remember, most of the other letters that Paul wrote to the churches were deeply rooted in addressing some major problems EXCEPT for his letter to the church in Philippi. What an amazing choice of words Paul uses here when writing about the church. I imagine it was his favorite church because of all the support and love and generosity they returned to Paul.
I hope I am a part of a church community much like the Philippians and NOT like the Galatians! What a great thing to have said about you: "Every time I think of you, I THANK GOD FOR YOU!"
