Proverbs 3:5-12 AMP

Pride before the fall

* Proverbs 3:5-12

In these verses, God uses all of the things that are in our walk of life, and tells us that if we just trust in him, then he will make our paths much easier.

Weather its your money (ch 3 verse 9) , or your pride (ch 3 verse 7) if you just trust in Gods work then he will guide you.

So many times we seem to think that we have better ideas than God, or that God isn't here in our lives so we have to do it alone. But what happens when we start believing that?
We become a person who is faithless, and without trust.

We become a danger to those around us, a bad influence to the friend that actually needed words of encouragement. We become a person drowning in pride, and believing for only a second that we could do it alone, before God steps in and disciplines us.

Wait what?

God disciplines us?

Of course he does, chapter 3 verse 12 says "For whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights"

God wants you to recognize when your falling away, so he can teach you to avoid that later on.

Some time this year, a friend of mine was in a very consuming relationship. The relationship consumed both her and her boyfriend with desires of temptations, and because they thought it made them feel closer, they decided to forget what the word says and fall into a hole with sex, and soon lost the guilt.

I tried talking to my friend, reminding her how much she loved God and how much he loved her. Explaining to her that sex is not love, and its actually stealing when you take that away from someone who isn't your husband because then you just took something that was for his future wife.

Soon after she tried fixing things, they broke up.

I listen to her, and try to give her words of encouragement, and as a human its hard to keep the words "I told you so" of my lips.

But something she said, caught my attention.

"I wish God wouldn't do this to me. I don't know why hes doing this, and that upsets me."

I looked at her and said, " Do you think your relationship trusted in God?" "Do you think you did it all right?"

She stayed quiet.

I said "you know, do you think God is asking you the same questions?" I then went on to tell her about how much God still loved her, but he also is her father, and he has to correct her, and help her find a fruitful life because thats what he promises when you ask him in your life.

She still isnt quite understanding Gods disipline, but shes getting there.

So many times we forget where were going wrong and we stop feeling the guilt until God shows up and disiplines us. Not because he wants us to hurt, but because he loves us. And he wants time with us.

How else could God show us he is there ALL the time, unless we are in a time when we feel so alone and hes there.

In the end we must still find the courage to stand up, and trust in God once more. Sooner we realize that God is the only path to take, and not guide ourselves, we find things in our life becoming much easier.
