When God, in his mercy, gave us this new way, he gave us the strength NEVER to give up. In the first verse of Chapter 4 (NLT) it says "we never give up". Then if you jump to verse 16, it says in the NLT "That is why we never give up". One of the greatest testimonies of a christian is Martyrdom, and when Paul says "We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies." In suffering, as Christians, we are a great witness, for if we get punished for doing something wrong, we deserve it. But if we suffer and get punished for doing wrong, God is pleased with our perseverance and our Glorifying of him.
