Deut 5
(v.23-33): Moses stands between God and the Israelites, relaying God's message for the people. The people were afraid to be in direct communication with God, and they asked Moses to pass on the message instead. This reflects the scene in the temple in the Old Testament. People brought their sacrifices to the priest, who would then offer them to God on their behalf. Praise God we now can approach God with confidence, because Jesus has become our bridge in the gap! We now live in a period of grace.
Ps 88
Learning to be secure in our understanding of God, learning to live out our faith, rather than 'knowing' God only with head knowledge. Those the psalmist was in despair, he still addresses God as "God of my salvation" (v.1). When our perspective of God is right, everything else falls into place. When we focus on God, and not on the circumstances, the things around us should not matter anymore. Our identity and purpose is found in God, so I must live each day with a clear understanding and belief in who God is.
