Here Matthew is experiencing the call of Jesus, at work. The difference of his call from the other disciples is his call of leaving privilege. Matthew is asked to leave behind the wealth of shady politics, legal stealing. He is wealthy, with a job that took some "greasing the wheels", and would be tough to come back to later, unlike fishermen. This call seems to speak more to modern American followers.
