An Unkowing Generation
I couldn't help but notice the glaring over site of God's people to properly train up the next generation to also follow after God. V. 11 says this new generation "deserted God, the God of their parents," yet they somehow found a way to be influenced by and altogether worship the Baal-gods.
It seems to me that while we may quickly point the finger at this young, rebellious generation. The finger should actually be pointed at their parents. Obviously the Baal-god worshipers were efficient in doing their level best to make converts to their religion. Why not so with Israel?
For me, this serves to illustrate the importance of our witness at all times and to all generations. The ways of the world are strong and always "on." As followers of Christ we must operate in very much the same way least we run the grave risk of improperly training up the next generation and seeing them eventually "desert God."
Heaven help us!
