The verse says Jesus unequivocally downplayed any reference to material possessions. Somewhere else, he said only the poor in spirit will inherit God's Kingdom. Moreover, he said in Luke 14 that anyone who does not give up everything he or she has cannot be his disciple. Yet, churches today scramble for what properties they can grab, calling it "church planting," and marvel at mega churches with moneyed people and super structures, calling them successful churches. The church is more lost than the world.
