Proverbs 10:1 KJV

vs.1 [1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.] When read in context, you have to understand the patriarch's and their polygamous system. Because a father usually had a wife and concubines, a son would compete amongst other children for the fathers favor. And this could be gained through the usage of wisdom. But failure to have wisdom would not elevate this son to be noticed by the father, but instead cause the mother to be the one whom would have to focus on giving him proper instruction. **Great parallel between God and the Church. It could be said a wiseman pleases God, but a fool is the burden of his church.
