Paul starts right off giving all glory to God thru Jesus Christ. Just as we should today, we are nothing and can do nothing for the cause of Christ without the working of the Holy Spirit within us. Just as Paul said in verse 4, today we say the same thing, Jesus, who gave himself for our sins, that He might deliver us out of this present evil world.

Paul was so surprised that the Galatian church had so quickly turned from the simple message of the Gospel for salvation. A lot of people today do the same thing, they preach of Gospel of good works and self denial, putting more burden on people to try to earn their salvation. The Gospel message is just as plain and simple today as it ever was....if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our heart that God has raised Him from the dead, we shall be saved.

Paul gives a brief testimony of how God worked in His life and changed him, and even though he once persecuted Christians, he is now saved and telling others the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. Jesus changes lives, then and now. Even people we think are unreachable, for God nothing is impossible. We need to keep praying, and keep living our lives as a witness to the love and power of God.

Paul states that once he was saved, he didn't rush out and start a big ministry, but went off by himself with God and took 3 years before starting to make contact with the disciples. Sometimes, when someone comes to the Lord, we want to rush and put them in some type of prominent position because we think they can be a great witness to others. Most times, it is much better to let them have time to get to know God better before putting them into some type of leadership.
