We all long to be safe; safe from danger, trouble and affliction. When I was a child, I would hide when trouble came at our house. My parents did not get along well, so I would find my refuge under a bed, table or in a closet. In my hiding place, peace would come, and I felt secure. I grew up and I came to know God through Jesus Christ. Now I hide in Him or away from Him. In the most troubling times of life, I seek Him, love Him to "cover me with His feathers and shelter me in His wings". In my mind, I picture the softness of feathers and the power of a wing. When life seems trouble free, I can easily forget my Lord - that I still need His protection — to be safe from myself and my worldly delusions of safety.
When trouble comes, the psalmist says God will keep us safe from trouble's destroying powers, not necessarily from trouble itself.
Dear friend, whatever trouble, danger or affliction you have today, may God cover you with His power; may God bring peace to your heart mind and soul and may God give you safety.
