we isolate to insulate
Watch out, brothers, so that there won’t be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart that departs from the living God. But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today , so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception.
Most people don't wake up one morning and think,"What to do today? Hmmm...I think I'll backslide." It always starts with a faithless state. That point of thinking that the situation is so bad that God couldn't possibly be present. Thats' why we are told that faith is required of us to please God as well as obtain salvation (grace THROUGH faith). I have to believe.. even when I can't feel it, it doesn't seem like it, it doesn't feel right,I don't feel like it., or the situation looks bleak. I believe. And to ensure that we stay in faith, we are to encourage each other. Isn't this the classic case scenario? As soon as we start falling in to the blahs, usually the last people on earth that we want to be around are devout believers. God is usually last on the list of "people to talk to today." But being reminded what God says is detrimental to us keeping ourselves from being hardened in our hearts and allowing a moment's displeasure to morph into rebellion. Trials will come. I may respond the right way or I may get down and need the body of Christ to surround me and encourage me. That's why I HAVE to stay connected, plugged in, whatever you wanna call it. My flesh may want to bolt or hide out or isolate myself to insulate myself but I can't. The result could lead to me being so far from God that I can't find my way back.
