What a shift from Chapter 7 to Chapter 8. They went from having a fearful movement of God to wanting a King. Of course there were reasons why, they wanted a king because they saw the ungodliness of Samuel's sons. What they were ultimatly doing was placing there hope in man rather than God to take care of the ungodliness of the Sons. They didn't place God at the forefront but believed they needed to help him out.

May I always come to rely on God no matter what is going on around me and seek his leadership over anything else.
