2 Kings 1:7-8 KJV, Matthew 3:4 KJV and Luke 1:5-22 KJV

Interesting to note that John was a proper priest. Reading 2 Kings 1:7-8, you see that Elijah wore the same clothes. Reading Luke 1:5 onward, you'll see that both John's Father and Mother were of priestly decent, and his Father was a priest, serving in the Temple.

Also note that John the Baptist was one of VERY few people who were "filled' with the Holy Spirit before the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts, a couple of years later. Many people had the Holy Spirit "come upon" them, but not many had been filled with the Holy Spirit before the ascension.

John the Baptist is a very interesting individual to study.
