Having directed prayer for the sending forth of laborers into his harvest (Matthew 9:37-38), Jesus now proceeds to send forth his twelve disciples (twelve apostles)(Matthew 10:1). The twelve are named Mt 10:2-4 and include Judas Iscariot. Jesus sends them to preach, heal, raise the dead, cast out devils. The bulk of Matthew 10 is instruction concerning rejection and persecution.
