Jesus addresses the unbelief of the Jews, their accusation of blasphemy (Jesus declaring himself - a human being in their eyes - as son of God). vv.37-38 speaks powerfully:

37 Don't believe me unless I carry out my Father's work.38 But if I do his work, believe in the evidence of the miraculous works I have done, even if you don't believe me. Then you will know and understand that the Father is in me, and I am in the Father.

As we've been covering the book of James in church, these verses resonate with what I've been learning the past weeks - our faith, if it is genuine, will be expressed in actions. Faith without works is dead. If Jesus' ministry on earth were demonstration of His divinity, His sovereignty, His almighty power, His agape love for us, our ministry on earth (as witnesses to the gospel, as Christ-followers) should be demonstration of active, living faith.

How else will people believe that this Jesus is real? How else will people believe that the narrow path that we are taking is the only way to eternal life? If our lives don't show the "evidence of the [...] works", if we do not carry out our Father's work, there is no way we are being effective witnesses.

Lord, help me to live this day living out my faith - believing that the Gospel has the power to transform people. Help me to demonstrate my faith through actions.
