As It Is Written ...
"As it is written" refers to Isaiah 52:5.
What Paul said here was not something the Jews had not heard before.
Nor is it something we (i.e., Christians) have not heard before.
The world, outside of Christ, reasons that Christians are like their God.
Such thinking is logical, reasonable and to be expected.
When Christians act wickedly, the world outside of Christ reasons that their God must also be wicked.
When Christians perpetrate evil acts, we give the world outside of Christ the idea that they can desecrate His name with impunity.
When Christians disobey the “Word of God” we give the world outside of Christ the ammunition needed to war against the Body of Christ.
