Acts 3:1 ASV

We leave no room for God to do the exceeding abundant thing above all we can ask or think. Most Christians are living way below the miracle level. We can explain everything that happens by ordinary cause and effect. (--Vance Havner) The disciples are being transformed into “powerhouses” for the work of the Lord. Peter goes from betrayal to preacher/evangelist and miracle worker in a matter of days. It is not uncommon at all – even today in Jerusalem – to see the lame begging for food and/or money. This beggar’s friends or family placed him at the most appropriate place to beg – at the gate Beautiful – where people must enter and exit. So, in a sense – he was at his daily job. I would like to point out a few things about this man: a) The world had rejected him as a real man, so he also believed that he was less of a man. b) He thought his greatest need was money and since he was lame, he decided this was the best way to get it. In one simple, yet miraculous act of faith, Peter gave this man Jesus and reached down and lifted him up and he was healed. The Lord (through Peter and John) did not give the man what he wanted, he gave him what he needed.
