We are all little or big Pharisees, trapped in a cozy feeling but killing tradition. There is none without sin. The challenge is that we are born and raised in a texture of tradition. Our parents and spiritual teachers, of course, are part of that flock. Well meaning they taught us that it is a good thing. Only the immediate encounter with the Lord of Lords reveals the truth about it. May He remind us painfully of it when we wash our hands. Daily. Maybe several times.
