I am A Great Sinner; but He is A Great Savior – I am Second: Josh Hami…
Vessels of Mercy:
We are such great sinners; but God is such a Great Savior. You may not be a drug, alcohol or sex “etc” addict – but you are a sinner – it may just be in a different from like depression, anger, jealousy, pride, gossip or discrimination; whether you like it or not. God is clearly telling you every day you are wicked without Jesus.
But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin. [Romans 14:23]
You may not even be committing those “obvious” sins; rather you may be a moral person – but you are not righteous apart from Jesus. If you eat and you don’t have faith in Jesus - you are sinning. Sin permeates farther than that; it includes drinking, sleeping, living, getting married, having babies, raising kids, sending kids to school – if you don’t have faith in Jesus – it is sin. You can’t escape it it is part of you are intrinsically.
All things created (What you see, taste, touch and feel) are declaring God’s power [Psalm 97:6; Romans 1:20]. And you chose to ignore it. Then when judgment day comes, the day you will bear the consequences of your actions – you will not be saved from death; rather you will bear the wrath of an angry God who will laugh at your foolishness. The proverbs personifies what it looks like to ignore Jesus:
Proverbs 1:21-32
At the head of the noisy streets she cries out; At the entrance of the gates in the city she utters her sayings:
“How long, O naive ones, will you love being simple-minded? And scoffers delight themselves in scoffing And fools hate knowledge?
“Turn to my reproof, Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.
“Because I called and you refused, I stretched out my hand and no one paid attention;
And you neglected all my counsel And did not want my reproof;
I will also laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your dread comes,
When your dread comes like a storm And your calamity comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.
“Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently but they will not find me,
Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the LORD.
“They would not accept my counsel, They spurned all my reproof.
“So they shall eat of the fruit of their own way And be satiated with their own devices.
“For the waywardness of the naive will kill them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them.
But, if you have Jesus – you have hope, the proverb continues:
“But he who listens to me shall live securely And will be at ease from the dread of evil.” Proverbs 1:33
So when the heavens declare His power, listen; when the earth trembles at His Holiness, feel it and when you are fed the Word, savor it. May God radically transform your life so you may declare His power.
