The original sin was rooted in a desire to gain something other than God. This is important because God had already given Adam and Eve everything that they needed to survive and prosper, yet they still wanted something more. And my questioning cry in reading this text is: "what could you gain from creation, that is more desirable than the creator?" That desire for something other than God is the very definition of sin and evil(the absence of God). The Lord must be our everything, in fact he demands it!
