Jonah 1
Jonah was told by the Lord to go do a job, he was to speak out against the sins of the people of Ninevah.
Jonah did not want to go and do as the Lord commanded so he fled and tried to run away from God.
Unfortunately, Jonah (and ourselves) cannot hide from God. God has designed each of us for a specific purpose and job for His kingdom.
By running away, Jonah caused all kinds of trouble for himself and for others.
Fortunately for the people on the ship, Jonah confessed to what he had done and told them what needed to be done to remedy things.
Although they were hesitant to throw Joan overboard, they finally realized that this was the only hope they had.
We see that even when we disobey God, He is with us and ready to forgive. Even though it looked like a hopeless situation for Jonah, God had already prepared a way for Jonah to be saved from the situation.
God has prepared a way for each of us to be saved from our sins and mistakes, the cross of Christ.
God has a plan and a purpose for each of us, and He works in our lives to fulfill that plan. May each of us be willing to do what God wants.
