"But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ." - The arrival of these heretics should not be surprising. The apostles foresaw it.

"They said to you, In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions. It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit." - The heretics follow their passions instead of the Spirit of God. I wonder if that is the essence of their heresy.

Application: How many decisions do you make based on your passions instead of on the Spirit of God?

I would say, honestly, that most of my decisions are made based on my passions instead of the Spirit of God. I don't think, in my case, that it is a rejection of authority but a forgetfulness of it, an ignoring of it. When one is so well taken care of, as I am, the need for God is easy to forget.
