So many times we get caught up in the presentation as opposed to what is presented when it comes to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. People run to a fire!!! When the word goes out that something is burning people come from all over...from miles away...to see the the smoke, the flames and the event. They can smell it, see it and feel it. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the same way. While I never want to belittle the use of technology in worship and evangelism these days...John the Baptist never had the ability. His message was so unique...so life changing...so edgy that people ran to the fire he created with his message. I suppose the thing I take from this passage is that as a preacher I need to make sure that the words I preach creates just such a fire...without the aid of technology...that people will want to run to it. The lighting, video, sound, music. etc. should be an addition to what is being presented...but the message itself should be what cause the fire that people run to.
