Fourty Years?
Fourty Years? !!! Absolon is at the gate causing an insurrection and we see nothing mentioned about King David correcting him for fourty years. That is a long time to let a sin like this go on with no correction. We love the "man after God's own heart", but he does have some fatal flaws, like the rest of the bible heros, and this is one of them. Since Absolom is no longer a child, I am not sure lack of discipline is appropiate here, but certainly as the King and leader of Isreal David should have stepped in and put a stop to Absolom's activity at the city gates. His lack of leadership almost cost him is kingdom and his life. Today as leaders, and we are ALL leaders as followers of Jesus, we must step in and speak the truth in love rather than letting problems fester until they become toxic.
