What if Aaron and Hur hadn't gone?
How many times to God's leaders try and "go at it" alone? They travel alone and succumb to temptation. They keep their faults and temptations private, and never get victory.
This story clearly shows the beauty of surrounding yourself with a team who will support and encourage ministry gifts and one another.
I think our focus is typically on the fact that they held up Moses' hands ... but as I read this morning, I'm more impressed with the fact that they went with Moses ... maybe Moses knew he should surround himself with these men. Maybe he asked them to come. Maybe they were discerning, and knew they needed to go?
