I know I'm trying to aim at one verse, but sometimes those verses just weren't put in correctly! So in this case I'm doing 3 of them.

Reading this over I'm struck by how Paul describes both the Gospel and our Lord Jesus. He doesn't say a word about any kind of results of the Gospel until verse 5. Instead he concentrates on the facts and the source of the Gospel - Jesus and His death, burial and resurrection.

In these three verses Paul gives us a thumbnail sketch of the whole redemptive plan of God! From the promise of the prophets in Scripture, to Jesus being descended from David in the flesh and being proclaimed the Son of God in power through the resurrection.

Even in this small of a space Paul points to the dual nature of Jesus, and says as plainly as it can be said, that He was and is the divine Son of God!

As usual for Paul he also managed to put the trinity into these three verses with the Son, and the Father and the Spirit all there. All working together in perfect wisdom and unity.

Wow - what an amazing amount of information in three little verses! By the time you've reached the end of them, you are centered in the finished work of Christ on the cross as shown in the resurrection!
