The Psalms are my constant companion. This Word of God dialogues between Maker and me.
In Psalm 16, the writer is fully aware of the circumstances of peril and the writer fully acknowledges God, His divine protection, His divine presence and His divine love.
"I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever" (vs 8,9 & 11).
How long has it been since we truly enjoyed 'the pleasure of God's company'. There are too many times I just barely pause for a 'micro-visit' with God - usually to drop off my long list of prayer requests, hurrying on to complete endless tasks — often forgetting He is present still — here in my heart, my soul, my very being. The Spirit of God longs to connect me fully - so we are one.
My dear friend, may we pause today to enjoy 'the pleasure of God's company'. Our hearts will truly be glad and all the cares of this world will fall away in His glorious presence. Dear Lord, forgive me for all the times I have not enjoyed Your company. I take this time to bask in Your love, Your protection and Your marvelous presence.
