Psalm 38:1-22 NLT

Isaiah 1:18
"Come now, let's settle this," says the Lord."Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow.Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.

As an artist, I know how hard it is to remove a deep color, like crimson from my canvas. Where I wanted light (or white), deep color spilled into the wrong place. Many times I must begin again, taking extra precaution to guard against staining the light or white.
This is also true in my spiritual life. Only God can wipe my canvas clean and change the image to be beautiful. Psalm 38 is a prayer that says how much sin wrecks us. Truly what often ails us is the sin in our lives. Unconfessed sin eats away at all that is good - for God cannot truly connect with us when sin lives. But we have an advocate, a Savior who died for our sins and rose triumphantly over sin and death.
1 John 2:1
"My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. "
Psalm 32:5
Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, "I will confess my rebellion to the Lord." And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.
1 John 1:9
But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
Dear Friend, Today I stop and reflect. I ask God to bring conviction about sin in my life. I confess my sin to Him and He forgives me. Praise God for His wonderful gift, Jesus Christ, There is no greater love.
