Influence is a Currency
Influence is better than money. It’s a better force for advancement. In fact, many people must use money to get influence because they don’t have it within their person. They must use the currency that they have in order to get what they don’t possess. Solomon said, “A gift opens the way for the giver.”
Rick Warren said, “The best use of influence is to use it for those who don’t have it.”
1. Everyone has problems. What do you personally possess that you can sow into the lives of others. The gift, talent, ability, or resources that you have are best used when you sow them into the lives of others.
When you help enough people get what they need, they will help you get what you want.
Your success and happiness in life depend on your willingness to help someone solve their problems. Find something within your possession to give away.
2. Identify with a cause. You are called to a cause. Your life is more important than the gathering of possessions, but for the fulfillment of a purpose. At the end of your life, whatever you personally accumulated will depreciate and fade. Only what is invested in eternally will last. By the way, watching a few programs on the history channel will make you aware of the faded memories of wealthy people. In light of a thousand years, what will you do in life that will matter?
3. Your frustration may be a calling. Most people are frustrated by unfulfilled expectations. Let’s face it. We can do better. We can live a better life than we’ve settle for. We can take better care of our health. We can make better investments. We can treat our families with more care and love. We can help others more than we have.
Your life is influential. Others are watching and drafting off you.
