It is worth noting that Paul, throughout his letters, rejects boasting in terms of one's own works or spiritual achievements, yet enthusiastically boasts in the progress of his sheep. This should be the culture of the church - downplaying our own efforts (because it is Christ who is working in us - Phil. 1:6), but pumping up the growth and victories of others. We must decrease, as John the Baptizer said, so that he may increase.
