Keep the Peace
Ephesians 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Unity is something we have to work at. It doesn’t come natural. But is is necessary to fulfill our calling. Endeavouring implies work, dilligence, and haste. Keep is a great word that brings to mind a impenatrible castle set to protect its people. Unity must be not only developed, but it must be protected. The kind of Unity we need to fulfill our calling is not just togetherness, it is “unity of the Spirit”, the Holy Spirit of the Living God is our unity. It unites us in a binding peace. As Galatians 5:16 “ [This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” Our flesh fights oneness in the spirit, Walking in the Spirit brings unity. Ephesians 4:4-6 tell us just want we should be united in.
