Discipline with love
Discipline - the very word would make me wince.
The dictionary definition: Instruction or training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character; control gained by enforcing obedience or order; orderly or prescribed conduct or pattern of behavior; self control
I would offer that God uses 'discipline' in every above mentioned definition for defining character purpose. He is truly a wise and gracious Father who loves His child so much that discipline is vital to mold me into what He knows I can be. He loves my obedience when I just give Him my life and say, OK whatever You want, I desire, Lord God.
As a child or an adult, I was inclined to see discipline as failure, that I would not be loved since I was in the wrong. But God does not love that way. He disciplines me because He loves me so much!
What a mess (or I should say greater mess) I would be if God did not take His time to discipline me.
Do I not live, even just a little, to please others? - I am wanting to live my life to please only God - the 'I AM' of all creation ( Isaiah 45:5 I am the Lord ; there is no other God.) - and my life will be pleasing to those I love.
Dear Friend, Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by HIm. Today, may we know the Father's love and His molding discipline to make us into the reflection of Jesus Christ, our Savior.
