Often times we look at this scripture and think it only applies to "married" or "non-married" people. But this also applies to boyfriends/girlfriends as well. Think about it, when you're in a serious relationship with someone, aren't they you're main focus? Well, they are according to Paul. By being in a serious relationship, you are going to be anxious on worldly things instead of the things of God. Is it the same as being married? Of course not. But it still dramatically affects our anxiety and concerns on the things of God. That is a high price to pay for a relationship which may or may not last.
