Money is the answer to everything.
In this part of the scripture I believe the author is not saying that money is a cure-all. He is admitting that money basically makes things happen in life. It is a reality. Money is the reason why a lot of things happen. Basically, in this world, most things obey money. Now, consider Paul’s comment that the love of money is the root of all evil (1 Tim. 6:10) and that the driving lust for money is behind most crimes. Of course, money makes good things happen too. It can supply us with a vehicle, clothes, house, and is used to purchase food. It allows us to acquire both the necessities of life and some of its luxuries. Used correctly, money is our friend and an instrument for God’s use. But, a reality is, as long as we are in this world, even though we are not of it, we are temporarily somewhat subject to the concept that almost everything in this world obeys money. So, if you are viewing this you probably had the same questions arise that I did. Pray about it and ask God to be your interpreter of scripture that you don't understand fully. My advice, learn from Elijah and let God be your answer and provider (1 Kings 17). Make him number one, truly number one in your life and he will bless you with what he deems necessary for your life. That is my take on this part of scripture.
If you don't know God, he may just be "that thing", or "that void", you are looking for. You are not of this world so things of this world are not your answer. That "void" is a God shaped void that can't be filled with money or things or this world. You will always have that "void" if God is not put number one. Give your life to him and trust him as your provider. Whoever finds God, finds Life.
