The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. - Solomon

1. A moment of haste can cause a lifetime of waste. The President wants to rush a 1,100 page bill that will effect one-sixth of our economy before anyone can read it. Before we judge to quickly, we’ve all signed contracts – car notes, bank notes, cell phone contracts without reading the contract. Later, we find the hidden costs involved in the deal.

2. When you hurry, you never fulfill excellence. A craftsman is slow and methodical in his work.

3. When you hurry, you make unnecessary mistakes. You’ve heard the saying, “Measure twice cut once, measure once cut twice.”

4. When you are diligent you listen to advisers. Some leaders make their decisions by their gut. They’re lead by feelings. Diligent leaders make decisions by advise. They’re lead by intelligence.

5. When you are diligent you are in control of the negotiations. I was involved in negotiations well beyond my experience, yet the Holy Spirit told me, “Even a fool seems wise with his mouth closed.” During the negotiations I remained silent until they reached their final offer. That’s when I closed the deal at 300 percent better than when we started.

6. Diligence is excellence just as haste is sloppy. I see it constantly. People who have a habit of “throwing” things together at the last minute and expecting better results. It never works. You can always tell when something is done in haste.
