This verse shows me that we are all dependant on God not matter what. The widow assumed that she and her son where down to the last meal because it was the last of their food. But God spoke through the profit Elijah and provided food miraculously until the day He would once again provide rain on the land. It was either God provide food or God provide rain. Either way we are all (the whole world) dependant on Him for all of our needs including the provision of food. The questions is do we (I) recognize our dependence on Him on a daily bases? Do I declare dependence just as Jesus prayed, “Give us this day our daily bread” and thank God for the daily provision of what He has given me? I am reminded today that God alone provides all of my needs in any and all circumstances.
