Making Love Last | Week 3 | Thursday
Another example of praise and worship.
With one amazing theological verse about death in the middle.
So many people believe that when you die you go straight to heaven (or the alternative). But there are those that believe death is a "sleep" until Jesus returns. This is one of the many verses that help support the latter.
4 His spirit departs, he returns to his earth;
In that very day his plans perish.
Death = returning to the earth (dust) = NO planning, thinking or "being"
In Genesis, it is very specific that God created man with these elements:
Dust of the earth + Breath of God = Living being
- similar to -
Pieces of wood + Nails = Box
In death the dust returns to the ground, the Breath of God returns to God (you stop breathing) and because of that you cease to be a living being. Similar to removing the nails from the wood and no longer having a box.
Now some would say, "That's right - you aren't a being - you are in spirit form because your soul never dies."
Well, if this is true, why does verse 4 say all plans cease? What is the purpose of being a "soul" or a "ghost" if you are incapable of thinking and planning? In my estimation there would be no difference between this state and being in the grave until Jesus comes.
Just something to ponder...
