In the beginning was The Word
In Hebrew, the את ('êth - the Aleph Tav) is found right in the center of Genesis 1:1 and is referenced by Strong's H853 as "contracted from H226 in the demonstrative sense of entity; properly self (but generally used to point out more definitely the object of a verb or preposition, even or namely)". While אות ('ôth) Strong's H226 is understood in Hebrew to not only represent each letter in the Hebrew aleph-bet, but, collectively, to represent the entire Word of Yah (God) - Yahshua (Jesus), if you will. Thus, confirming what John states clearly in John 1:1, "In the beginning was The Word, and The Word was with God, and The Word was God."
When, in Matthew 12:38-30, Yahshua (Jesus) was challenged by the Pharisees to show them a sign to prove that He was the Messiah, He answered that the only sign they would be given would be the "sign of Jonah the prophet ... so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." When you examine the Hebrew word, אות (H226) when compared to את (H853), you'll notice an additional letter in the center. That additional letter is the 'waw' (pronounced 'vav') and carries the understood meaning of 'the nail'. So, when you take the The Word of Yah (God) in Genesis 1:1 (את) and you drive 'the nail' through the middle of it, you will get The Sign (אות).
