Prize Rachel and Rachel will exalt you

It has been some time since I have posted on Proverbs 4. This is the final post, therefore, I hope this will help us find a “common thread” in our spiritual growth, spouse and worship.

If I prize Rachel and “show her off” by putting her on a pedestal she will speak highly of me, because I am lifting her up and showing I find her valuable. If I don’t talk about her to other people and people don’t even know I am married then your wife will have no reason to “lift you up” because you don’t even care. Just as we live for Wisdom. If I “show off” or “use” my wisdom, my actions and works will lift me up as a person who good rapport and integrity.
Embrace Rachel and Rachel will honor you

If I show my wife she is important to the point where I do not let go of her no matter how difficult things get and I am committed to her and faithful to her – then she will honor me knowing that I find her important. A wife loves to know and feel they are wanted. So reach out and hold your wife! Here we see that wisdom is personified as a “her” because, just as we seek, and chase down our wives, dedicate ourselves to her, lift her up and not let go of her…she will respect, honor, help and stand up for us.

There is another personification in the Bible that falls among these lines. The Church (Disciples of Jesus Christ) are personified as the Bride of Christ [Ephesians 5:22-33; Revelation 19:7-9] So this verse no only makes sense when speaking about Wisdom, and Wives, but also our Worship to Jesus.Except the “Church” is being personified as “her”.
Do not forsake her, and she will guard you.

Jesus did not forsake us and in doing so, we proclaim Jesus and guard His holiness by standing up for what is right and true. We learn more about Jesus so we can accurately explain Him and His power. We do our best to make sure Jesus is not marred by evil.
Love her, and she will watch over you.

Jesus loves us and in doing so, we help Jesus in every way we can by tithing, praying, giving, extending forgiveness, mercy, grace and serving faithfully to one another. We actively engage one another to make sure our faith remains pure – bearing one another’s burdens and show our fire for Jesus.
Prize her and she will exalt you

Jesus prizes His children by setting us apart from those who are going to hell, and in that we come to church and sing praises to Him every Sunday. We gather with other believers and pray and just have a good time (celebrate) in Jesus’ name.
Embrace her and she will honor you

Jesus embraces us by never letting us go once he grabs us, [John 10:28] and in that we honor Him, that Jesus is a God who never give up on us. [Philippians 1:6]

Therefore, take some time this week and check yourself before you wreck yourself. Answer the following questions:

* How is your relationship with Jesus?
* Do you actively seek out, love, prize, and embrace wisdom from God?
* Do you pray and ask?
* Do you find every opportunity to obtain wisdom when you can? How about your relationship with your spouse?
* Do you seek, love, prize and embrace them?
* If you do not have a spouse, but have a boyfriend or girlfriend – is your significant other someone whom you will always seek, love, prize, and embrace in the sunshine and storm?
* Finally, how is your relationship with Jesus (Yes we are doing this one twice!)
* Do you love, prize, and embrace Jesus?
* If you don’t – ask yourself why not…are you searching or just reading this blog to make fun of it?
* Whatever the case may be, read Colossians 1:21 – 23 and ask yourself “Am I alienated?” “Am I continuing in the faith firmly without wavering?”
* Then read Titus 3:1-8 and ask yourself “What does the Bible say here…how is my life reflected in these verses“.
