Just some random thoughts about this psalm.

Sometimes we look at vastness of the heavens and we conclude that there is a God. But we are like a speck of dust compare to the greatness of the universe and why would the God who created this universe would pay attention to us? We are nothing really, all meaningless, and we are just plain insignificant.

This psalm strike a balance by acknowledging that we are like a speck of dust but the God who is behind this vast creation loves us and confer to us His image so that life is not meaningless; so that we are not insignificant in God's eyes. In effect, the God of Life and Love has breathed in His Life and Love into us so we can live, live a life that is pleasing to Him.
