Many people would rather follow Jesus' teachings than Paul's because Paul seems stricter and not very loving. Chapter 8 is one of several places Paul speaks specifically of love. Here he discusses respect for others and where they are in their spiritual maturity using the topic of eating meat sacrificed to idols.

v6 - a statement of faith/belief for Christians
v7 - importance of following our conscience (is there a psychological effect here?)
vs9-11 - danger of exercising liberty gained through knowledge/wisdom
