This should be a great incouragement to all who regularly feel that in our Western U.S. culture we have to add some fireworks show every Sunday morning, and have 76 different things going on during the week to be effective and fruitful for advancing Jesus's Kingdom. Read the word to the people. Exortataion comes through reading the word to the people over and over. Lights and flash are not bad things, but does all of that put a positive pressure on the people to be more conformed to the image of Christ?
