some teach today, similar to the church at corinth, that one must be filled with the Holy Ghost and exercising gifts in order to be saved or important. these verses show that a person can be rich in gifts and exercising them in a seemingly effective manner but still not be closer to God than one who doesn't. love must be the motivator.
