There will always be those who:

do not believe (those the word does not take root in)

believe but not completely (since they do not fully believe they do not get the full experience of the relationship with God and thus cut the selves off of what they need to grow further in God.) (they believe but ate cautious in giving their complete belief)

believe but then cease to believe (much like children who believe in the tooth fairy but then as they grew older cease to believe such things exist)

believe with the whole heart (this group will be hundred times more than what was sewed/planted)

Can you think of examples where you see these various groups within your community?

the purpose of light luke 8:16-18

lights are not turned on to be hidden so that they remain unseen. The purpose of light is for seeing an illuminated space.

In other words your drakness (your sin) can not hide in light.Light can not be hid under your sin (your darkness)

you may not understand this now but if you continue to to pay attention and listen to the word of God understanding will come in time. If you so chose to not listening what you think you understand will be taken away from you-

our mothers,father,siblings,and kin are not our true family. Our true family are those who hear the word of God and obey it.
