Micah 1
This chapter clearly shows that God is a just God. When people go against Him and do what is not pleasing to Him, there are consequences to pay.
While looking at the Life Application Study Bible, I saw that Jerusalem was the capital city of Judah and Samaria was the capital of Israel. It states that the two sins identified were perversion of worship and injustice toward others.
These sins were going on and people were not changing or feeling sorry for the way they were living, so God's judgment was beginning to fall.
Micah was declaring God's judgment on these cities and telling them that God was not going to put up with their sins.
We today still see the consequences of sin, but we also know the patience and grace of God, that if we will repent of our sins and turn from them, God is more than happy and willing to forgive us and take us back into His fold.
