James 1:19-20
When I was younger I had a temper. My parents would send me upstairs and give me these versus to copy down. Every time I copied down these versus I came down changed. My attitude was different, not mad, angry, and ready to yell, but calm, subdued, humbled. I remember I would try to stay mad, but as I copied the versus down I slowly came undone. Something about these scriptures changed my attitude every time I copied them down. Since then these particular versus stay with me wherever I go. They remind me to check my attitude and not to flair up at people to quickly. But to "be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry." I've heard people say, "God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason." And these versus say it all.
