Chapter 18 gives us 5 portraits or "pics" of faith. This parable shows us the first pic.

The widow is persistent in seeking justice from her adversary with the unjust judge. Eventually he gives it. Jesus makes an argument from lesser to greater to say that if this unjust judge who doesn't know or care about this poor widow, how much more will our loving Father who knows and loves us respond quickly and completely. A lot more!

She's persisting for justice. A picture of the Kingdom of God. Jesus tells us we're to persist in prayer and not give up here.

What are we praying for? The kingdom of God. (see Luke 11:2-3)

So what?

When we, like so many in the days of Luke, are wondering if our faith really matters or if Jesus is really coming back, we can be encouraged to persist in prayer: that is praying "Thy kingdom come..."

So what do we do? We persist in prayer until Jesus returns.
