1 So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech.2 Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, 3 now that you have had a taste of the Lord's kindness.
Here is a measure of growth. Am I done with deceit (lying, manipulation, half-truths), hypocrisy (saying one thing, doing another) jealousy (envy, coveting,) and all unkind speech (gossip, innuendo, slander, crude, profane or abusive language)? It is a sobering list of soul-searching and ultimately confession. What will prevent such sin from creeping back into my life? - The very pureness of the God’s Word.
Here as an infant, I cry out for the only nourishment that will make me grow to be just like my Father God intended - God has given to us His word– we are not left to figure it out on our own. Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior who gave us the example we can live by and the Holy Spirit to empower us to follow Christ.
As in anything, If I desire to do anything well, I have to apply myself. I need to spend time in God’s word – the more I do, the more my desire grows to know how very good and great God is.
Dear Friend, I can find more time to waste on things that do not matter. Join me in stopping today and pushing aside what does not matter, to spend time God’s Word, which will make all the difference in growing up!
