Wow... I honestly don't remember reading these verses before. Well, if I did they sure didn't stick like now! In a society where everyone finds excuses and reasons to honor one another. Basically these verses blow that concept out of the water. "Do your duty, and don't worry about seeking glory or thanks"! That is my paraphrase, of course. I can honestly say that I aspire to be like this, truly I do. I think on the most part I have lived my Christian walk this way. But Oh, I have had my moments... where I am saying, "why are they being honored and I am not or Why are they being praised for the very idea I gave them?"

That is tough but look at our reward, if we focus on what our prize is! Our prize is eternity in heaven, oh and the applause comes later, the thanks will come later! My God is great, seriously think about the "homecoming party" that they are working on probably even right now.

Temporary things like "earthly thanks and honor" will pass away, but eternal things, these are the things that should drive us to do our "duty".

Do your duty!

amen!
